Meet your Doula & Certified Lactation Specialist

Doula Aleecia:
Hi! I’m Aleecia, Mother of two, Full Spectrum Doula, Lactation Specialist & Community Health Worker. I am a Portland Native born and raised. Like many people from the PNW, I enjoy being outdoors, Gardening, music, art, yoga and spending time with my husband and our children. have a calling for birth work because I thrive by helping and caring for others. In June 2019, I began my Birth Doula training at Birthingway College of Midwifery. That same year, I started practicing as a new doula and completed my Certification in 2022.
My goal as your doula is to provide guidance and support to birth finish line, through the wild journey that birth can be. The most important aspect of my work is building trust with my clients. Birth is personal and sacred, so I have immense respect around personal autonomy and a clients choice for themselves and their family. During the interview process is where it's crucial that both myself and the potential client feels like we are a good match. I make sure to really listen to client's and their desires to be a successful support person at their birth.

As a black woman, I am passionate about supporting black and other marginalized communities. It is also important to me to be a familiar face and a sense of safety for better birth outcomes for black and brown women/people. I am also passionate about reproductive justice for all and strive to be an advocate for all.
In conclusion, As your doula, I provide knowledge, so that clients feel secure in their decision making, birth plan and environment.I provide comfort, in having a care provider that is culturally and linguistically specific and a member of the care team that you regularly connect with and trust. My hopes are by the time of our last prenatal visit, that you will be well informed and comfortable in consenting to your own experiences, in the birthing environment and to take control and feel confident in advocating for your own autonomy but to know that I am here for support as well.
This is truly gifting work, I am so grateful for all the families I have met and birthing experiences I have been apart of this far and I can't wait for the new chapters ahead!

Testimonials

"Words cannot explain how grateful I am to have worked with Aleecia. From the day we had our first meeting I knew I made the right choice in choosing her to be my doula. She is authentic, kind, patient, supportive, knowledgeable, professional, experienced and honest. She provided me with so much information and helped me have a voice during the remainder of my pregnancy journey leading to my labor. She assured that I got my ideal birth experience and that my birth plan was considered during my labor. She is so experienced that during my labor stages she suggested and recommended some interventions that not only helped me but broaden the knowledge of the midwives who were present. Her presence and authenticity even made my husband comfortable enough to participate and be there for the whole labor, something he didn’t want to do at first. When I felt like I couldn’t do it anymore, it was Aleecia who gave me the words of encouragement and guidance to get through the pain and discomfort. She was truly amazing, a blessing that I’m grateful I crossed paths with and supported me during my pregnancy and labor. Anyone would be lucky to get her services and I know for my next pregnancy she will be who I go to again. She has become family to us and I will never forget how she made my husband and I feel during the birth of our first child. Thank you and may you continue to be blessed for the work you provide. I will be recommending her to anyone that I know is looking for a doula."

"My partner and I decided to include a doula in our birth experience because we wanted someone to support us emotionally and physically during my birth. Aleecia was such an amazing doula for my partner and I. She was so supportive during my pregnancy and birth and my postpartum care. She was always present and checking in. She's knowledgeable and always connected me with really helpful resources. She was so calm and supportive and made my birth experience, beautiful and seem so blissful. She advocated for me and it made me feel seen and important. I appreciate and am so thankful for Aleecia, a beautiful soul. If I decide to have another baby I would definitely want Aleecia as my doula again. Thank you so much Aleecia, you were amazing!"

"Aleecia is AMAZING! She is so insightful, knowledgeable, easy to talk to, kind-hearted, and patient! I am so glad I picked her to be my doula. Her expertise kept me well informed through out my pregnancy. From choosing where to deliver, to getting information about ways to care for my body through acupuncture and massage, Aleecia had an unlimited amount of researched suggestions and recommendations. Due to her amazing coaching, my baby girl was born quick and easy without any major tearing. As a first time mom, laboring with her was everything I could have ever hoped for. She kept me at ease and focused, as well as upbeat and joyous. Everyone deserves an Aleecia in their labor room! "
